人之謗我也，與其能辯，不如能容。
人之侮我也，與其能防，不如能化。
Facing malicious attack we should tolerate rather than argue.
Facing insult we would rather resolve than to defend.
受得小氣，則不至於受大氣。
喫得小虧，則不至於喫大虧。
If one tolerates being trivially bullied then he may not be bullied extensively.
If one accepts a small loss then he may not suffer great loss.
凡事最不可想佔便宜。便宜便宜者，天下之所共爭也。
我ㄧ人據之，則怨萃於我矣，
我失便宜則眾怨消矣，
固終身失便宜，乃終身得便宜。
Taking advantage of others is the last thing to think about. Gaining advantage is what everybody in the world is looking for.
If I alone have all the advantages, all blames will come upon me.
If I lose advantage then all blames will disappear.
Therefore, if one loses the advantage for all his life, he actually gains the advantage throughout his life.
任難任之事要有力而無氣。
處難處之人要有知而無言。
To take the responsibility of a tough engagement requires strength and disconnection of personal emotion.
To get along with a persnickety person requires an understanding and a suppressed personality.
